  • Raw Material Preparation: High-quality carbon fibers are selected as the main raw material, which are usually made from PAN (polyacrylonitrile), pitch, or viscose precursors. Resins, such as epoxy resin, polyester resin, or phenolic resin, are used as the matrix material to bond the carbon fibers.

  • Weaving or Layup: The carbon fibers are arranged in a single direction and then woven or laid up to form a unidirectional fabric structure. This can be done through various techniques like weaving, knitting, or non-woven processes.

  • Impregnation and Curing: The formed fabric is impregnated with resin to ensure that the carbon fibers are fully wetted and bonded by the resin. Then, through processes such as heat and pressure curing, the resin solidifies to form a composite material with high strength and stability.

  • High Strength and Stiffness: Carbon fiber UD fabrics have extremely high tensile strength and modulus of elasticity. The tensile strength of carbon fiber reinforced resin composites can generally exceed 3500 Mpa, which is 7 to 9 times that of steel, and the tensile modulus of elasticity is 230 to 430 Gpa, higher than that of steel3.

  • Lightweight: The density of carbon fiber is less than a quarter of that of steel.
